Director of Apprenticeships, Department for Education

David Hill was appointed Director of Apprenticeships at the Department for Education in October 2015, where he is responsible for leading the Government’s Apprenticeship Programme.

He was Director of Strategy, Communications and Private Office in the Department for Communities and Local Government from 2013 to 2015, and previous roles include Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (2011-2013); Deputy Director, International Climate Change in the Department of Energy and Climate Change (2009-2011); and Deputy Director, Housing Supply in DCLG (2007-2008). David was a member of the DCLG Board from 2013 to 2015

David Hill is the most senior civil servant leading on the apprenticeship reforms at the DfE. Setting the scene for the AAC 2017, David will update providers on the reform programme and growth aims for apprenticeships.
