Until April 2017, Jonathan worked as a teacher and senior leader at schools in Scotland and England for over seventeen years. Much of his work was concerned with building partnerships between employers and schools, and the delivery of learning and training at both national and local levels. He has worked on curricular and qualification development in many areas. In April 2017 he left teaching to join the senior leadership team of the newly-formed Institute for Apprenticeships (now IfATE), which oversees the creation of a national suite of high quality apprenticeship standards leading to high quality apprenticeships and T Levels. He is responsible for apprenticeship standards development, leading a team of Government officials working with thousands of employers in hundreds of trailblazer groups across England.
