Simon is currently Chief Policy Officer for AELP. Formed over 15 years ago, AELP is a national trade association, representing the interest of 825+ organisations delivering vocational learning, sustainable employment and employability support. Last academic year AELP members delivered 76% of England’s apprenticeships plus other skills & employment programmes. Members include independent training providers, further education colleges, universities, employers, schools, awarding organisations and end point assessment organisations. Simon represents AELP on the following external groups/panels: Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA) Stakeholder Reference Panel, Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Provider Reference Group, Ofqual’s Vocational & Technical Qualifications Reference Group and the Student Loans Company (SLC) Stakeholder Forum. At AELP Simon has overall responsibility for policy, research & development and public affairs.
