CEO, Fair Train
Rod became Fair Train’s CEO in November 2016. Alongside his award-winning broadcasting, events and theatre career, he has been actively involved in the Third Sector for 25 years – as a professional practitioner (for example creating personal development programmes for the Prince’s Trust and pioneering broadcasting training for the British Asian community and producing 250+ fundraising films and 100+ charity events) and as a volunteer. He has been a Trustee of Variety, the Children’s Charity, since 1995: its Chair of Marketing and Communications since 2010 and Co-Chair of its Strategy and Governance Committee since 2015.
Rod has had a lifelong passion for creating opportunities for and empowering people, especially young people. He says: “I owe so much to people who gave me fantastic work experience in the early days of my career, so it’s really exciting to have the opportunity, with Fair Train, to help others in this way.”
