I am Managing Director of Damar Training, a long-established apprenticeship provider that I acquired, with a business partner, in 2006. Since then we have taken the business from being a very small local provider to a being a 1,700+ apprentice provider serving a wide range of employers and communities in the North-West and national clients in our specialist sectors. We work hard to represent the interests of our employers and apprentices, our focus being very much on delivering solutions that deliver real, valuable benefits to the organisations and individuals with whom we work. We have been heavily involved in the development of several new apprenticeship standards over the past few years, particularly in legal services and travel.
I am also a director of the Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network, where I help to influence the regional skills agenda and promote the interests of members who operate within Greater Manchester. Prior to my involvement in Damar I worked as a solicitor (specialising in corporate law) with the legal arm of one of the large accountancy firms and then spent several years in corporate finance with a former client of mine.
